Product Description
MAGIC-LUBE is SFK’s proprietary environmentally friendly vegetable oil based lubricant used to reduce torque and drag in water-based drilling fluids. MAGIC-LUBE readily absorbs on exposed surfaces to help provide a chemical film that can effectively reduce metal-to-metal friction. MAGIC-LUBE lubricant helps reduce the wear on metal parts, helps reduce torque in high angle or horizontal drilling applications and can provide lubrication when higher than normal weight on the bit and drillpipe rotational speeds occur. MAGIC-LUBE lubricant is stable to 425°F (218°C). MAGIC-LUBE is tolerant to high calcium ions concentration. MAGIC-LUBE is not suitable to use in high pH silicate based drilling fluids. EP-SLIDE Lubricant of SFK Speciality Chemical should be used if silicate based drilling fluid system is being used.
Application/Function
Reduces torque and drag by significantly reducing the coefficient of friction
Helps decrease friction and wear of metal parts like drill-pipe, bits, BHA and casing while drilling
Suitable for using as a lubricant in high-pressure, high-stress conditions for highly deviated wells
Prevents differential sticking, bit and BHA balling
Helps reduce the risk of differential sticking by improving filter cake quality and reducing filtrate
Helps reduce corrosion by coating metal surfaces with a hydrophobic film

Contains surfactants to enhance dispersion in all water based mud systems
Recommended Treatment and Method of use
Optimum concentration is 2.5 – 4% V/V.
Systems should be treated with minimum 2.5% initially, and the concentrations should be maintained through the interval where torque is expected.
Packaging
MAGIC-LUBE is packaged in 25ltr cans or 208ltr (55 gal) drums. Custom packaging is available on request.
